Revenant Worship

Worship Band

Revenant Worship is a community of worship leaders and musicians from Dallas, TX who are passionate about the presence of God and desperate to see the of love of Jesus bring dead things back to life. As a collective from multiple churches throughout the Dallas area, Revenant Worship was born out of the idea that worship is more than just singing songs on Sunday morning, but is all about encountering God and experiencing resurrection life in Christ.

The word “Revenant” literally refers to someone who has returned from the dead, which resonates with the band’s foundation passage of Scripture:

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” – Ephesians 2:4-6 (ESV)

The founding members of Revenant Worship spent more than a decade traveling and ministering in the band Sixteen Cities, experiencing the power of worship music to bring dead hearts back to life. And after experiencing the grace of God in a deeply personal way, a new passion for transparent and authentic worship rose up in the members of Sixteen Cities

Revenant Worship leads worship locally at their home churches and at a monthly community-wide worship night in north Dallas. The band also travels to bring their unique expression of worship to camps, conferences and events all over the country. Above all, the members of Revenant Worship long to see the Spirit of God move in people’s hearts in a way that brings dead things back to life through the power of Jesus.

  • Josiah Warneking – Singer, Keys, Songwriter
  • John Michael Howell – Singer, Guitar, Songwriter

what our friends say …

"What a refreshing joy it was for us to have Sixteen Cities lead worship for our Youth Ministry Lab Conference! They led worship in a Christ-exalting manner and worked great with our team."

Justin Buchanan

Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary

“These guys are the REAL DEAL! It is so refreshing to see genuine, humble guys that live what they sing.”

Billy Beacham

Student Discipleship Ministries, See You At The Pole

“We’ve been so blessed by Josiah and the guys of Sixteen Cities. We’ve had the chance to see them in a number of settings and they never disappoint. They truly are gifted musicians and awesome men of God.”

Kevin Palau

Luis Palau Association

“As the leader of a Christian school, I am always looking for ways to further encourage our students as they follow Christ. We brought Sixteen Cities to campus for a couple of days and they did an incredible job of leading our students in worship, engaging them on campus and challenging them to passionately pursue Jesus Christ. Josiah and Josh were especially impactful as they shared powerful messages of God’s love and grace. Our students and faculty came away encouraged and strengthened! Our students want to know when Sixteen Cities is coming back!!”

Jeff Burley

Head of School, Texoma Christian School

“Sixteen Cities is a band that I have worked with both as a youth pastor bringing them in and as a camp speaker getting to hang out with them. These guys are the real deal. Their story is a testament of what the Lord has done and is doing in each of their lives and the glory of God is so evident in their worship. When you bring them in for an event, they are there to serve you and not the other way around. The quality of their sound and the quality of their worship make them the best band you can have for your event. I recommend them everywhere I go.”

David Reyes

Student Pastor, Geyer Springs FBC

“Sixteen Cities has led our contemporary service for over three years. I love that the guys are worshipers. They get that worship is about Jesus, not about them! The other thing I most love about them is that they love people and do the hard work of ministry. If you bring them in to lead worship, they will invest their lives and Christ’s love there.”

John Wills

Executive Pastor, The Heights Baptist Church
